Ten sets of Absenicon, including 9 sets of Absenicon C220 and 1 set of Absenicon C165, were installed in Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS), including its lecture hall that can accommodate more than 1,000 audience, the terrace classrooms and the financial lab. The wonderful project in the high-end education area was delivered from Jan. 2020 to Oct. 2020.

Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) was founded in 2004 with the vision to advance Peking University’s involvement in global economics, finance, and management research. Located in Shenzhen, PHBS brings Peking University’s historical presence and first-tier business education programs to the country’s south and benefits from the dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit of the thriving city. PHBS is the first Chinese institution of higher education to offer English-only business programs at a Master level.

Absen’s project manager of this PHBS case, Justin Ouyang, commented, “The whole project has been finished in two phases that lasted 10 months from Jan. 2020 to Oct. 2020.” For the first phase of the project, it was the installation of an Absenicon C165 in the financial lab on the 5^th floor of the teaching building and an Absenicon C220 in the terrace classroom on the same floor in Jan.2020.

And for the second phase, it included the installation of 1 set Absenicon C220 in the terrace classroom on the 5^th floor of the teaching building and 7 sets of Absenicon C220 in the grand lecture hall with capacity of over 1,000 seats, which was the biggest challenge of the whole project.

As the biggest lecture hall of PHBS, the lecture hall is used for festival gala, large lectures and grand meetings for all the students and faculties. Before the installation of Absenicons, the lecture hall was equipped with several LCD displays.

“There are limits with LCD when it comes to size and visual performance. If you sit at the side or the behind of this lecture hall, you can barely see the content presented. The bezels on the screen affect the viewing experience for the audience too – if a lecture is taking place during the daytime, the ambient light makes it hard even for the audience sit in front to see the content presented clearly, not to mention the audience sitting in the back place”, adds Justin, “that is why the PHBS is in desperate need to find a new product and solution to solve all the problems above. And Absenicon was finally chosen for its unrivaled advantages”.

To satisfy the customers’ needs for ultimate visual experience for every attendee in the lecture hall, Absen has tailored a solution for this project. Absenicon has been designed to suit all known spaces such as training rooms, board rooms, lecture halls, auditoriums in corporate, government, higher education, schools, hospitals, banks and the other indoor environments that require a reliable fixed display solution for effective communication. Considering the large area of this lecture hall, 7 sets of Absenicons were installed, 5 sets in the middle of the stage backdrop flanked by 2 sets on the side that can enable the side-by-side display of both the presenter and their presentation material.

Absenicon allows for open and bright meeting space with promising adjustable brightness levels from 0 to 350nits, enabling users to choose the right brightness to adapt to different environments whether dark or bright. The adjustable brightness makes the content of the lecture during the daytime very clear for audience, ensuring the visual performance.

Compared with LCD, besides high brightness, LED also boasts high image quality and the ability to create large-size seamless video walls. Absenicon features a color gamut of 110% and a contrast ratio of 4000:1, promising exceptional images with more accurate and richer colors. The LED display aims to provide completely bezel-free display and eliminates the distracting dark lines associated with LCD video wall technology.

In addition, the 160° ultra-wide viewing angle enables meeting members within the space to receive complete presentation content. PHBS is a college focus on the financial and management, so many materials are numbers and columns, which have high requirements for the display performance. Clear display content could bring enhanced levels of engagement and communication between students and speakers during the lecture.
